Zuber & Company is frequently retained to defend matters involving professional negligence. We regularly defend claims involving engineers, optometrists, paramedics and architects. Professional negligence litigation is sophisticated in
nature and special attention is required when analyzing the standard of care and reasonableness of the decisions of the professional based upon the circumstances when running these claims.
Sexual Abuse
Jamie Schacter at our office has handled several historical sexual abuse claims, Foster Care claims and Child’s Aid Services claims involving abuse, mistreatment, and sexual abuse.
These files are of such a specialized nature that a senior, experienced lawyer must be involved to implement the proper approach to investigating and defending these claims.
Although many of these cases are legitimate, there are a percentage that are illegitimate, and a delicate approach is required to challenge the victim in these types of claims. Sidious investigation and preparation is required, and Zuber & Company has the necessary skills to effectively defend the sexual abuse claims.
Product Liability
Many bodily injury claims involve product failure and product liability cases. Our office is regularly retained by large, self-insured American corporations to defend these cases in Canada. Our product liability experience is wide and far reaching, including automotive product liability, home appliances, large machinery, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, consumer goods and food and beverage.
Our firm has defended product liability cases in shapes and formats. We work closely with in-house engineers or independent engineers to create a theory for our defense case on product liability matters and try to bring scientific backing to support our position.
Public Sector Liability Claims
Our firm provides representation for various provincial ministries, specifically general liability claims involving correctional facilities and the provincial police.

Employment and Human Rights
Jennifer Black handles insurance claims relating to employment law, including wrongful dismissals, constructive terminations, and discrimination claims before the Superior Court. She also regularly appears before the Human Rights Tribunal in matters relating to discrimination and failure to accommodate in employment, services, and contracts.
