Meaghan McCarthy

Meaghan has developed a wide ranging civil litigation practice focused on insurance defence with a special interest in motor vehicle accident liability, threshold defensible matters, property damage, occupiers’ liability, subrogation claims, human rights claims, and employment law. Meaghan handles a variety of matters including those before the Superior Court of Justice, Licence Appeal Tribunal, Small Claims Court, and Human Rights Tribunal. Meaghan was co-Counsel in a two-week Trial with a successful Jury verdict in May 2023.

She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2020 after receiving her J.D. from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University. Meaghan returns to Zuber & Company after working at the firm as a law student. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Literature and History from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University.

Prior to joining the firm, Meaghan articled in-house for a large financial institution and summered at a plaintiff’s side personal injury firm. She also worked in policy for the Ministry of the Attorney General. Meaghan is a member of Canadian Defence Lawyers and the Thomas More Lawyers’ Guild. Outside of work, Meaghan enjoys spending time with family and friends, fitness including running and yoga, and playing tennis.
